Principles

We are not about ‘farmer bashing’ or anyone else bashing. Bovine TB and its management are complex, sensitive and controversial matters. Not surprisingly, feelings on both sides of the debate often run high. However, that’s no reason why people shouldn’t be able to debate the issue in an informed and civil manner.

We aim to complement existing online sources of reliable information on badgers, cattle and bovine TB.

We do not claim to have all the answers, but we make a concerted effort to separate fact from fiction and misinformation.

We are upfront about what constitutes fact supported by objective evidence and what constitutes anecdotal evidence, subjective interpretation of facts or our or others’ personal views.

We endeavour to ensure that the information reported and analysed by Badgergate is as accurate as possible by using credible sources of information and drawing upon relevant scientific and technical expertise and other sources as needed. Although every effort is made to check accuracy, we are not responsible for any errors. We will correct any errors brought to our attention provided these are substantiated with reliable objective information. Also see our Terms and Conditions.

We ask external contributors to verify their information carefully and to provide supporting evidence and references. Although we exercise internal quality control and verify to the extent possible based on our own knowledge, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of content provided by others, but again we will correct any errors that are reported to us and substantiated with evidence.
